Job description

SUMMARY

The seasonal, part-time Parking Associate is dedicated to the efficient servicing of all Keeneland patrons. This position also interacts with personnel at all levels. Parking attendants assist patrons in the parking of automobiles on Keeneland grounds. Associates are stationed throughout various parking lots including preferred parking, employee parking, The Hill, valet, barn areas and other places as needed. Associates work approximately 15 days during April and 17 days during October for live racing and other special events as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet patrons, club members, trustees and other attendees during live racing or other events on various parts of the property with a high level of customer service.
  • Use appropriate hand signals to direct patrons into open spots, in addition to parking pass recognition and other permits for specific areas.
  • Liaison between patrons and Keeneland Staff if a person is parked illegally, has a flat tire, needs a cab or tow truck or has other additional needs including parking lot disputes.
  • Support other parking operation needs as assigned.
  • Keep work area(parking space, lot aisles, etc.) neat and presentable to the best of abilities.
  • Abide by company policies including no smoking, wagering or eating at workstation on company time; consistently maintain workplace professionalism in dress and appearance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work Live Race Days: 6:00 AM – 2:00PM.Live Race Days are Wednesday thru Sunday. Keeneland is closed on Easter Sunday in addition to Monday and Tuesdays.
  • Candidates must be able to stand forlong periodsof time during peak ingress. In a variety of elements such as but not limitedtoheat, cold, humidity, rain,wind,or snow.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy,cooperativeness,and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be flexible and willing to change work locations based on management needs.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate (speak, read, write) with patrons,co-workersand management to their understanding.
  • Punctuality and regular, reliable attendance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Experience working in a customer service related capacity preferred. Experience parking automobiles for large events preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Candidates must have a primary language of English in addition to basic reading level skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to count monies and return change to patrons.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Kentucky State Racing Commission License.
