Amego is seeking passionate and caring individuals who are looking to make a positive impact in the lives of the people we serve. Paraprofessionals are a crucial part of the team, ensuring the proper implementation of individuals day habilitation service plans. Join the team and make a difference!

The Paraprofessional implements day habilitation service plans (DHSP) for all members, acts in a professional and respectful manner with members, family and team members, and maintains responsibility for the direct supervision and training of members within the assigned program, and within community settings. Paraprofessional is under the guidance of the Developmental Specialist and Case Manager and under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Program Director.

  • Ensure the awareness and implementation of member’s DHSP goals/objectives and corresponding data collection; accurately document progress and needs related to goals/objectives.
  • Ensure an active treatment milieu is on-going during programming operations and in accordance with member’s and group schedules, at all times.
  • Instruct, counsel and supervise members in skill areas to include, but not limited to: self-help, independent living, communication, socialization, sensory-motor, affective and behavioral skills, wellness, safety, and self-advocacy in accordance with DHSP. Facilitate member and group activities in accordance with member goals/objectives, DHSP, and member’s and group schedules.
  • Assist members to achieve goals/objectives by maintaining knowledge of member’s learning styles, strengths and need areas; maintain a normalizing, learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with members, peers, supervisors and administration.
  • Maintain effective communication skills (oral and written) with members, co-workers, families and stakeholders at all times.
  • Maintain an attitude of professionalism at all times, in all environments and with all related persons to the program (i.e. members, families, supervisor, management, outside agencies and community members).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Human Rights, DPPC Reporting Procedures, and Sexuality Policies and monitor that members’ rights are upheld; act as a role model by displaying proper dress, language, safe work practices and a positive work attitude at all times.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety policies & procedures are implemented; be familiar with evacuation routes, ensure safe & efficient evacuations during drills & actual emergencies; be aware of fire safety & prevention procedures; keep aisles & means of egress clean & accessible; report unsafe situations; monitor members during lunch, breaks and transport; & safely transport members within the community.
  • Support members in the area of personal care including, but not limited to toileting, showering, lifting and transfers as necessary and self-help within an environment that promotes member independence at all times.
  • Support members with skill based activities as recommended in accordance with member’s DHSP across all environments. Transport of members to activities as assigned utilizing agency vehicles.
  • Crisis intervention including: consistently carrying out behavior plans; intervening in crisis situations; proper implementation of Behavior Management and Emergency Restraint Training; accurate and timely completion of incident reports and other related paperwork
