POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: IV Therapy Technician
STATUS: Exempt
The IV Therapy Technician is responsible for initiating IV access and administering intravenous vitamins, minerals, and other nutrient-based therapies to support client health and wellness. This role plays a key part in delivering a safe, high-quality clinical experience by monitoring clients throughout their infusion, reviewing medical histories, and making appropriate clinical decisions within scope and protocol.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Start and administer IV's and run fluid therapy for the intravenous process.
• Administer IM/SQ Injections as indicated.
• Monitor the client's response to treatment.
• Manage and prevent infections.
• Assess the client's physical health including vital signs, physical assessment, mental status,
etc.
• Identify contraindications to intravenous therapy for the client.
• Take client's vitals as needed.
• Documents interactions and communication with clients regarding therapy services,
assessment, and
responses/reactions to treatment.
• All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Associate's Degree in Nursing or Graduate of an Accredited Paramedic Program; License must be current and up to date
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records and Anatomy, Medical Terminology and Medical Practice Functions
2 years minimum of Vascular Access or Infusion Experience needed; 2 years minimum of leadership or management experience
