Job Description:

The Quality Engineer will investigate, analyze, and lead corrective action for a wide variety of manufacturing and process issues related to our internal and external suppliers of parts and components. This position will collaborate with other departments, to resolve issues, prevent recurrence, and continuously improve quality culture and sustained product quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze and solve problems on a wide variety of quality issues related to manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, painting, assembly, and test as well as components in the areas of Machining, Fab/Weld, Assembly, and Supply Chain.
  • Investigate and correct internal, external and interplant supplier quality issues.
  • Coordinate containment and corrective action activities.
  • Thoroughly document quality issues and quality performance for Root Cause & Corrective Action.
  • Lead process audits and other quality systems related projects.
  • Understand details of engineering drawings and specifications to aid in assessment of conformance or non-conformance of a variety of conditions in manufactured and commodity components.
  • Work with various leaders, to facilitate problem solving, supplier corrective action, evaluation, development and communication of quality improvement plans and metrics.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary leaders and colleagues to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Actively support continuous improvement efforts to drive quality and supplier excellence within all aspects of the Quality Management systems.
  • Coach and train leaders and their team members as needed in Root Cause Analysis (using problem solving tools like 3 Legged 5 Why), resulting in permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university with at least two years of experience in a related manufacturing role such as Quality Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Supplier Quality.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, geometric and dimensional tolerancing, engineering and manufacturing requirements, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience with coaching and sustaining Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) problem solving process (using problem solving tools like 3 Legged 5 Why - Process, Detection, Systemic), resulting in implementation of permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Experience successfully influencing, leading and directing others who are not direct reports
  • Experience working with both internal & external customers to drive standard practices around true Root Cause Analysis using appropriate problem solving tools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) problem solving process such 3 Legged 5 Why.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of PPAP, PFEMA/Control Plans, LEAN, ISO Standards such as 9001:2015
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Pareto and Statistical Analysis.
