Job description


Position: Senior Engineer (Traffic/Transportation)
Infra Tech Engineering is actively seeking Senior Traffic/Transportation Engineers for major transportation projects in New York & New Jersey. Ideal candidate must be able to work in a team environment and must possess a BS degree in Civil Engineering and 10+ years of experience with analysis and design, production of plans, and coordination of traffic elements; to include signing & striping, signalization, ITS, and roadway lighting. Must be fluent in Micro-Station and familiar with NYSDOT and PANYNJ standards, as well as the MUTCD and AASHTO guidelines.
Location: Positions are located at our main office in Long Island City, NY 11106.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performance of various traffic engineering analysis and design tasks, including the design of traffic signals, preparation of traffic signing, striping and pavement marking plans, design of intersection/highway lighting and electrical plans, design of intelligent transportation system (ITS); and preparation of detours, Maintenance of Traffic (MPT) plans, Transportation Management Plans, and Traffic Control Plans.
  • Perform and supervise the design and development of roadwork plans for highway, roadway, interchange and drainage projects using Micro Station.
  • Perform the design of traffic signals/electrical plans and intersection and highway lighting systems.
  • Perform intersection and roadway capacity analyses using HCS 2010, Synchro, SimTraffic, and VISSIM software.
  • Assist in the preparation of Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E), for construction.

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Masters degree in Civil Engineering, a plus.
  • Work experience in Traffic/Transportation with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and/or PANYNJ preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Traffic/ITS design, highway geometric design, and traffic signal design.
  • Familiar with NYSDOT Highway Standards and specs.
  • MicroStation experience required.
  • Knowledge of GuidSIGN and AutoTURN, a plus.
  • Knowledge of Bentley In-Roads, a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in NY or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire preferred.
