Job description

Seeking a skilled Panel Builder to assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels for custom automation systems. This position works closely with engineering, controls, and production teams to ensure panels are built accurately, safely, and according to customer specifications and electrical standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience reading electrical schematics, mounting components, routing wire neatly, and troubleshooting control systems in a manufacturing or machine-building environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build industrial control panels from electrical schematics and layout drawings
  • Mount and install electrical components including:
    • PLCs
    • VFDs
    • Relays
    • Terminal blocks
    • Power supplies
    • HMIs
    • Circuit breakers
  • Perform point-to-point wiring and cable routing
  • Read and interpret:
    • Electrical schematics
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Bill of materials (BOMs)
    • Panel layouts
  • Label wires, devices, and components accurately
  • Drill, tap, cut, and modify back panels and enclosures as needed
  • Test completed panels for functionality, continuity, and proper voltage
  • Troubleshoot wiring and component issues during build and testing phases
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC, UL, and company quality standards
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Support machine startup and installation activities when required
  • Work with engineers and project managers to resolve build issues and improve processes
