Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform preparation work prior to painting such as grinding, sanding, buffing and mask-off areas not to be painted
  • Fill cavities and dents as necessary and surfaces repaired area to attain required finish
  • Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted using solvent, sandpaper and wire brush
  • Selects and mixes paint to produce desired color and finish according to specifications
  • Applies paint to prepared surfaces adjusting sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting techniques up to show-car levels as required
  • Cleans spraying equipment thoroughly with solvent
  • Moves painted articles from preparation area to and from paint booth
  • Finish surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax or other materials
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment
  • Maintains cleanliness of spray booth
  • Positions articles in jigs or erects ladders or scaffolding
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Background in paint and body repair
  • previous experience painting show and concept vehicles, with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience.
  • A High School or GED equivalent required.
  • A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred.
  • Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.
  • Incumbent must possess basic hand tools and spray guns for the position and upgrade such tools as required to complete the tasks assigned.
