Material Handler 1 - Paints - Days

What You Get To Do

The Material Handler in our Paint Department is focused on loading quality material onto the paint line and reports to the Paint Department Manager.

This role is perfect for an individual who has attention to detail. A vital member of the Paint Department, this is an opportunity to build a career with an industry leader.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Push buggies of material from the pretreatment line.
  • Identify defective material and scrap it, after the Tag Writer has properly scrapped it in the system.
  • Inspect metal for quality, proper order number, piece counts, and color.
  • Load metal onto the paint line based on exposure and maximizing hanger bars
  • Unload painted metal from paint line, load onto carts for transport to proper staging area.

What We Are Looking For

  • Teamwork is essential, must be willing to work closely and effectively communicate with coworkers.
  • Must be able to determine and distinguish entire spectrum of colors.
  • Must have the ability to learn to identify and distinguish metal quality as related to finish or metal itself.
  • Must be able to read or learn to read prints or die drawings.
  • Must be able to make simple mathematical calculations.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and basic written instructions, read and write legibly.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to continuously perform a two-person lift of up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to continuously squat and reach overhead using both hands (range of 23" to 78" from ground level)
  • Must be able to continuously reach outward, overhead, grasp, walk and stand 8-12 hours.
  • Must have good hand dexterity and hand eye coordination to hold extrusions in place while hanging metal onto rack.
  • Must be able to occasionally perform a four-person lift of up to 180 lbs.
  • Must be able to occasionally assist co-workers pushing buggies weighing up to 2500#.
  • Must be able to distinguish ranges of all colors.
