Description

We are seeking a skilled Painter/Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various painting techniques and a strong understanding of painting projects. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying paint, and ensuring high-quality finishes for interior and exterior of structures, buildings and other surfaces. Performing various pre-painting tasks utilizing several techniques, including but not limited to, using sandpaper, wire brushes, and filling holes to prepare surfaces. The Painter/Engineer will also perform as needed engineering tasks. This role offers potential pathways for progression within the engineering department, including the opportunity to advance into specialized or senior engineering positions.


Responsibilities:ย 

  • Applies paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.ย 
  • Repairs and/or replaces defective wall surfaces.ย 
  • Scrapes, sandpapers, primes, or seals surfaces prior to painting.ย 
  • Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.ย 
  • Performs drywall repairs including tape and bedding, and application of texture.ย 
  • Applies multiple coats of joint compound and sands surfaces to achieve a paint-ready finish.ย 
  • Repairs drywall damage.ย 
  • Prepares equipment and furniture for painting in an appropriate and professional manner.ย 
  • Prepares surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming.ย 
  • Applies paint or other coatings using various techniques.ย 
  • Mixes and matches paints.ย 
  • Maintains tools and equipment.ย 
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.ย 
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.ย 
  • Prepares work order material by pulling from stock to meet technical and trade requirements.ย 
  • Adheres to safety protocols, including the safe operation of lifts.ย 
  • Assist with HVAC system operations and maintenance.ย 
  • Perform basic plumbing and electrical maintenance tasks.ย 
  • Monitor and report on building systems and equipment.ย 
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules and documentation.ย 
  • Collaborate with engineering team to ensure building safety and efficiency.



Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.ย 
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial or commercial painting experience is commonly required.ย 
  • Proficiency in sheetrock installation, including cutting, fitting, and securing drywall panels.ย 
  • Skilled in taping and bedding drywall, applying joint compound to seams and corners, and sanding to a smooth finish.ย 
  • Ability to perform drywall finishing, including texture application and surface preparation.ย 
  • Competence in surface preparation techniques such as sanding, scraping, power washing, and abrasive blasting.ย 
  • Experience with industrial spray painting, priming, and coating on various surfaces including steel, wood, and concrete.ย 
  • Knowledge of paint mixing, color matching, and application of specialty coatings like varnish, polyurethane, and epoxy.ย 
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and company-specific safety protocols.ย
