Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review electronic files received from clients and performs quality checks for detail and completeness.
  • Use electronic page layout software to review/correct format issues for paper size and presentation.
  • Determine page layout for folds, trims, bleeds and grippers.  Add necessary crop marks and color bars.
  • Able to transfer electronic files for output to Pre-Press file server, create electronic page images for proofs to promote quality control.
  • Able to troubleshoot file issue, collaborate and coordinate with Planners and Production
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by the manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training

· High School Diploma or GED (required)

· Technical training school desired

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience:  

  • Two (2) years prepress operator experience is a plus
  • Prinergy, ESKO and Preps experienced preferred
  • Familiar with Print MIS systems desired, EFI Monarch or PSI
  • Knowledge of color, paper, and print-flow operations highly recommended (including offset and digital sheetfed, digital webfed, wide format, bindery, finishing and direct mail.

Licenses/Certifications

· None required to start.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to Pre-flight customer files and to make file corrections
  • Ability to read and understand work orders
  • Have a working knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating systems as well as a variety of application software and in-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Attention to detail is a must for accuracy and analytically including good typing, grammar and spelling skills for review.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of impositioning, including the ability to design custom impositions tailored to specifications for press, finishing and bindery.  Knowledge of wide-format printing and color separation.
  • Skilled in optimizing layouts for efficiency, accuracy, speed and waste reduction in digital and offset environments. 
  • Necessary skills - organization, problem solving and adaptable and be self motivated to learn production techniques, operate on tight deadlines and excel in a high volume environment.  Exercise verbal and written communication skills and to work with a team
