Job Title: Healthcare PACS Technical Architect (Merge Expertise or Change Healthcare Product)
Location: Milwaukee, WI (Remote)
Type: Long-term contract
About the Role
  • We are seeking an experienced PACS Technical Architect with deep expertise in Merge Healthcare products to join our healthcare technology team
  • The right candidate will design, implement, and support enterprise PACS solutions, focusing on optimizing radiology imaging workflows and integrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement PACS solutions using Merge Healthcare suite (Merge PACS, Merge RIS, etc.).
  • Design and lead the integration of PACS with other healthcare systems (EMR, VNA, modalities).
  • Define technical standards, policies, and best practices for PACS workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving PACS, networking, DICOM, HL7, and image storage.
  • Collaborate with radiology, IT, and vendor teams to ensure robust and compliant imaging environments.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to internal IT and clinical teams.
  • Lead or assist in PACS migration or consolidation projects.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years in healthcare IT, with at least 3 years architecting or administering Merge PACS environments.
  • Deep knowledge of DICOM, HL7, and IHE standards in radiology imaging.
  • Experience with Merge PACS administration, upgrades, integrations, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with VNA, storage solutions, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Merge Healthcare certifications.
  • Experience with cloud-based PACS/VNA solutions.
  • Prior work with radiology IT in large hospital or health system environments
