Job Description Summary:

This position supervises the packing staff and ensures product is correctly packaged and wrapped, including and not limited to scheduling to ensure sufficient product supply to selling department. May require working night (second) shift and weekends during peak season(s); assigned shift will be based on business needs
Candidates must have the flexibility to work either 1st or 2nd shift based on business needs:
1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 2:45 PM
2nd Shift: 2:30 PM - 12:00 AM
The pay range for this position is expected to be $25-$30 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Description:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the supervision of packing staff, including training and development of forepersons and performance management in compliance with union contract.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of inventory and schedules to ensure schedule is completed.
  • Assists Packing Management with scheduling when necessary to assure availability of products on inventory.
  • Inputs or modifies schedules using the Packing Department scheduling system(s) (currently JRG/ROSS).
  • Monitors general packing operations and quality of product and packaging. Monitors machine operations.
  • Assists in computer input and departmental record-keeping including but not limited to HRIS timekeeping function(s) as required.
  • Monitors product ordering through scheduling system(s) software.
  • Develops, maintains, and enforces Packing Department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food safety programs, and workplace safety practices to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of packaging equipment and processes.
  • Monitors team performance and adherence to all established procedures, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
  • Leads and actively supports company safety, food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), quality, and cost-control initiatives within the Packing Department.
  • Drives employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement efforts to achieve operational, quality, and performance objectives.
  • Maintains communication within Packing, Operations and to Selling divisions. Responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance technology and innovation that will improve departmental effectiveness.
  • Builds people capabilities through coaching and mentoring of direct reports.
  • Provides performance evaluations for their team. All See's staff must be committed to the company's core principles and workplace values, including diversity and inclusion.
  • Performs special projects, and/or other duties as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, certificate in relative areas preferred.
  • Strong people management, communication, motivational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written bilingual skills (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • 2-5 years' experience supervising a union workforce with a diverse employee population.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered. Food manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong mathematical proficiency; excellent PC skills. Familiarity with warehouse management systems or production scheduling preferred.
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and manage change efficiently, proactively and in a positive manner.
