Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

Pay Rate: $22.95

Purpose

The Meat, Seafood, Poultry Packer provides essential support to the production team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. The role is responsible for meeting production requirements by Packaging proteins to customer requirements and provide overall support to operations functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly and packaging of products within specification standards while maximizing yields and minimizing loss.

  • Assemble, disassemble, and operate specialized processing equipment safely and efficiently

  • Assist with production start up operations as required.

  • Complete end of shift activities, including table clean down, product handling, WIP documentation, and line shutdown procedures.

  • Maintain efficiency standards and complete all required production, yield, and traceability documentation.

  • Maintain proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, tools, and miscellaneous parts throughout production and prior to end of shift shutdown.

  • Ensure all equipment is safe to operate at all times and report any hazards or malfunctions immediately.

  • Maintain housekeeping standards and overall cleanliness of the plant environment.

  • Comply with all Company Health & Safety policies, OHSA requirements, Food Safety, and HACCP regulations.

  • Obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., pallet jack / walkie operator), as required

  • Back up for General Labour classification.

Skills

  • 1+ years' food processing in a cold/freezer environment.

  • Ability to work to tight specifications under production pressure

  • Lead by example in safety, quality, efficiency, and compliance

  • Math skills required to calculate production specification measurements, i.e. weight, yield tests, etc.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to do heavy lifting

  • Ability to work in a cooler environment
