Job description

Purpose of the Role:

The Auction Staff plays a key role in the end-to-end process of preparing and managing auction inventory. This individual is responsible for sorting, labeling, organizing, and maintaining collectibles and memorabilia within the auction house. They will photograph, research, catalog, and appraise items with attention to detail, working closely with clients and internal teams throughout the consignment and sales process. With a strong understanding of collectible markets and online platforms such as Bidsquare and LiveAuctioneers and others, they will manage listings, support marketing efforts, and ensure all items are accurately represented. This role also includes packing and handling items with care and maintaining a clean and organized workspace to support daily auction operations.

General Duties/Key Responsibilities:

Research, appraise, catalog, and market various types of collectibles.
Maintain a deep understanding and interest in the collectibles they are responsible for.
Collaborate with clients on all aspects of the listing, auction, and purchase process.
Manage online listing platforms including Bidsquare & LiveAuctioneers.
Ensure accurate and detailed descriptions for each collectible listed.
Take Professional white background pictures of each item listed, including well written description and market approach to the eventual auction system listing.
Auction setup and daily operations tasks; moving and arranging new inventory, preparing previews and reports of said inventory.
Stay updated on market trends and pricing for different types of collectibles.
Forward inquiries to the operations manager and provide the detailed information to potential buyers.
General Logistics; organization and maintaining auction house workspace. Assisting with item handling and storage.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Assist in the preparation and execution of auctions.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless auction processes.
Social media and Content Creation - assisting in photographing, filming, and writing engaging content for auction promotions, social media, and marketing materials
Inventory Management including sorting, labeling, maintaining inventory records, organizing, and categorizing items.
Maintain accurate records and inventory databases.
Packing - packing items securely and ensuring optimal shipping safety.
Continuously improve knowledge and skills related to collectibles and auction management.
Work collaboratively with the inside sales and management team.
Report to the Operations Manager, Auction Manager, CEO, and CFO when needed.

Role Requirements:

Strong research and appraisal skills in various types of collectibles.

Experience in preparing and executing auctions.
Must be able to lift 50lbs regularly. Must be able to bend, squat, turn, and work on your feet for up to 8 hours a day.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and inventory databases.
Problem-solving skills and ability to handle post-auction follow-ups and adjustments.
Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in the field of collectibles and auction management.
Must be able to type proficiently.
Monday-Thursday schedule Fridays and Weekends as needed.
Fluency with current retail software / computer systems including Shopify, eBay, and Microsoft Excel.
Passionate about collectibles and their area of specialization.
Knowledgeable of collectibles and online selling techniques.
Communication skills, they communicate well in person, on the phone, on email, on chat with clients.
