Patina Shipping Helper
Schedule :
6:30-5:00 Mon- Thurs with 2 paid breaks, one 30-minute unpaid lunch break (40 hrs /week no overtime for now but maybe down the road)
Pay:
$16.00- $20.00 / hr depending on experience
Location :
Bastrop

This general labor position will work in both our patina finishing department and shipping/receiving department being a part of a fast-paced team environment, the ability to function independently or semi-independently is required. These departments are responsible for some of the final steps necessary for producing and shipping unique pieces of art for artists across the country and around the world. This position will occasionally be needed to help in related departments and the desire is to have this employee cross trained. This role will sometimes be physically demanding, responsible for lifting, climbing, and packing crates, trailers, securing/strapping large sculptures for transport. While experience is a plus, all on the job training will be provided
*Most importantly, a strong work ethic, great attitude, and punctual attendance habits are essential.
Job Duties:
  • Handle, pack, crate, and load sculpture (large and small) in accordance with foundry standards and practices.
  • Pack and make boxes for shipments, following established processes to ensure secure packing and safe shipping.
  • Perform final assembly of artwork on bases as needed
  • Prepare shipping documents and maintain accurate records, with strong attention to detail
  • Handle finished product ensuring proper storage and documentation expectations are met
  • Assist Patina finishing department by prepping art pieces for next step of process including:
    • Polishing
    • Buffing
    • Fine grinding
  • Use measuring equipment and hand tools

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Must pass Pulmonary Function Test
  • Steel toed shoes required
  • Above average strength and coordination- must be able to life over 50 pounds, climb, balance, and maneuver safely to secure sculptures for transport.
  • Physical stamina required- will be standing, moving, lifting for duration of 10 hours work shift
  • Follow all foundry and departmental safety rules and instructions
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of crating and packing
  • techniques.
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency with basic math skills (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying)
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills
  • Strong communication skills- must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Maintain clean and organized workspace
  • Exhibit fine motor skills and/or perform repetitive motions
  • Maintain reliable and fast work pace consistent with production goals/timelines for quality and quantity
  • Familiarity with hand tools and measuring equipment a plus
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, airborne particles, fumes, smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.
