Job description

Title: Transportation Security Officer
Reporting: Security Operations Supervisor
Position Type: Full-time, Day & Night Shift Available
Department: Operations

Summary:

Greater Omaha Packing is seeking a competent Security Officer to undertake the surveillance of our premises and protection of our staff and visitors. You will play a critical role in our transportation of merchandise by efficiently checking in/out trailer loads on and off GOP property, and ensuring all data is accurate and correctly uploaded into our system. Other responsibilities include detecting any suspicious behavior and preventing vandalism, thefts, or other criminal behavior. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing security measures, maintaining a vigilant presence, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • Control access to the premises by monitoring the entry points and perimeter of the facility.
  • Monitor and authorize the entrance of vehicles or people on the property.
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences.
  • Report any alarms or suspicious activity to the supervisor or site lead in a timely manner.
  • Act swiftly and efficiently to incidents, emergencies, alarms, or suspicious activities. Follow established standard operation procedures, fill out incident reports, and collaborate with emergency services and management.
  • Maintain a professional a courteous security posture while interacting with employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Check in/out trucks and trailers for shipping of our product to ensure all guidelines set forth by Greater Omaha packing are being followed.
  • Administer regulatory trailer temperature checks and report any problems or defects to management and/or the trucking company.
  • Coordinate with the shipping department to ensure trucks are being moved to the right area.
  • Help guide traffic in the shipping yard to maintain a safe a steady flow of the area.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work experience as a security officer or similar role.
  • Familiarity with report writing, access control, surveillance systems, and emergency response.
  • Excellent observation skills and the ability to quickly assess situations, identify threats, and take appropriate action.
  • Have the ability to stand, walk, lift at least 75 lbs, and perform security duties for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines and regulations pertaining to the security area.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, a calm demeanor, honesty, and reliability when maintaining security for the organization.
  • Establish a rapport with employees, visitors, contractors, and truckers.
  • Knowledge of truck and trailer systems is preferred.
  • Ability to run a software system for truck and trailer check-in/out.
