About The Job

At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. ย  We are currently looking to hire a Packaging Operator based in West Jordan, UT! ย 

In this role, you will be responsible for:ย 

As a Packaging Operator, you will operate production equipment, load materials, perform hourly quality control checks (including solids and pH testing, and print quality and accuracy), clean, sanitize, perform changeovers, maintain flavor documentation and batch sheets, communicate with supervisors, peers, and mechanics. Packaging Operators work on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule. Day shift will be scheduled 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM and night shift will be scheduled 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Work schedules may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area and equipment, following all prescribed safety and quality standards.
  • Documenting cleaning and sanitizing activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Performing solids and pH testing to ensure product quality.
  • Recording flavor information on batch sheets provided by R&D.
  • Following approved work instructions provided by Quality Technicians.
  • Verifying accuracy of printing on gable tops and boxes, obtaining Quality approval as required, and maintaining print quality.
  • Ensuring correct product and package labeling in compliance with specifications.
  • Monitoring the supply of packaging materials to prevent production delays.
  • Performing cleaning and sanitizing functions for all circuits, pipes, tanks, valves, and related equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, you will frequently be:

  • Standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, bending and stooping (at waist level), kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting (at waist level and at the neck).
  • Tasting, smelling, seeing (including colors), speaking, and hearing, within a normal range to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
  • Using fine motor skills to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Regularly enduring repetitive lifting, from 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., and occasional team lifting or more than 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally climbing stairs, step ladders, or stools.
  • Working up to 12-hour shifts in production areas with a usually moderate noise level.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you will:

  • Work will be performed in a manufacturing environment with usually moderate noise levels and will involve standing/walking on a concrete surface for the duration of your shift.
  • Regularly working near moving mechanical parts and will be regularly exposed to cold, wet, and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant.
  • Occasionally work in high, precarious places and may be exposed to extreme cold, the risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.ย ย ย ย 

Compensation & Benefits:

Base compensation for this position is $26.06/hr. with an additional $1.25/hr. shift differential when working night shift. Upon the completion of a 90-day probation period, your base compensation will increase to $28.96/hr. with an additional $1.25/hr. shift differential when working night shift.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing or production experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and good mechanical aptitude, having familiarity with basic machine functions.
  • Ability to use powered industrial equipment (walkie stacker, pallet jacks).
  • Read and write, interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Comprehend basic math and simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Understand and carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Willingness to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regards to daily duties and responsibilities.
  • Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data.
  • Prepare and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees within the organization.
