GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily packaging operations, ensuring products are packaged efficiently, safely, and according to Wineshipping quality standards. This role coordinates workflow, maintains productivity targets, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Steer the Ship: Lead the daily packaging crew and keep the workflow cruising smoothly.
  • Pack It Right: Make sure every item is packed accurately, neatly, and right on schedule.
  • Boost the Pace: Keep an eye on productivity and help the team stay efficient and energized.
  • Plan Like a Pro: Prioritize tasks based on shipping deadlines and what the operation needs most.
  • Spec Check Champion: Ensure everything we pack matches the approved packaging standards.
  • Standards Custodian: Keep packaging quality high and consistentโ€”no shortcuts allowed.
  • Spot-Check Superhero: Inspect finished packages to catch any errors, damage, or mix-ups.
  • Problem Solver: Investigate packaging hiccups and get to the root of any issues fast.
  • Stay Stocked: Monitor supplies (boxes, trays, inserts, ice packs, labelsโ€”everything!) so we never run short.
  • Replenish & Refresh: Coordinate refills and keep packaging materials flowing.
  • Supplies Steward: Make sure materials are used wisely and stored properly.
  • Waste Warrior: Cut down on waste and help us save time, money, and materials.
  • Safety First: Ensure equipment is used safely and correctlyโ€”no exceptions.
  • Keep It Clean: Maintain tidy, organized work areas that make Marie Kondo proud.
  • Number Ninja: Track productivity and performance metrics to keep us on target.
  • Connect & Communicate: Partner with Operations, Customer Success, and other teams to keep everything in sync.

  • Quality Crusader (VAS/Value Added Service): Jump into improvement projects and help us level up how we do things. This includes performing customer-specific services at special handling stations. Tasks vary by client (e.g., hand-rolling bottles in tissue, custom box builds, wax dipping).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

  • At least 4 yearsโ€™ experience in a warehouse.
  • Previous supervisor experience.
  • Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods.
  • Able to work well independently or as a member of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Possess basic math skills, understand written/verbal procedures, ability to read/write/speak English.
  • Previous Scan gun capabilities a plus.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Minimum high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.?
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of standing/walking/sitting.
  • Occasionally lift, carry and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional loud noise.
  • Occasional varying environmental temperature changes.
