About the Role

As a Packaging Engineer, you will support the design and development of premium out-of-box experiences for YETI products while considering performance, sustainability, and cost; ensuring YETI packaging delivers our premium brand aesthetic throughout its full lifecycle.You will gain experience through doing, while enhancing process, documentation, and reporting for the broader packaging team.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development of packaging solutions for new and existing products, working to lead development of packaging solutions for select product categories.

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize packaging specifications and assembly instructions across assigned categories.

  • Work cross functionally with Program Managers, Product Managers, Design & Industrial Engineering, Marketing, Merchandising, Sourcing, Operations, International team members, packaging and manufacturing suppliers to execute on-time packaging solutions.

  • Design, plan, and conduct packaging performance testing and trials while ensuring proper documentation of each activity.

  • Initiate and drive packaging efficiencies in partnership with logistics, retail and manufacturing partners.

  • Design and implement an automated UPC label creation process.

  • Develop and maintain real-time packaging material matrix.

  • Support the roll-out and maintenance of packaging inputs to a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.

  • Support and refine team best practices, project tracking, and process documentation.

  • Research and stay up to date on packaging innovations and sustainable materials in the marketplace and with suppliers. Relay new viable ideas to all major stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree preferred

  • 2+ years' experience in a Packaging Engineering role

  • Familiarity with packaging testing methodology (i.e. ISTA & ASTM) and packaging software (TOPS, MaxLoad Pro, or similar).

  • Able to prioritize activities that have the biggest impact while effectively managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-pace, growing global brand.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
