Job description

Position: Production Packaging Associate

Location: 1000 Ternes Drive

Backyard Products in Monroe, MI is looking for qualified, hard working, dedicated Production Assembly Team Members to join our Pack Line team.

This position is responsible for loading raw materials, parts, and hardware in correct quantities, space, order, and placement to ensure the safe and secure shipping and storage of our backyard finished goods. The Pack Line Team plays a critical role in our business and producing quality sheds and play structures that provide 100% customer satisfaction. This is a physical position with a lot of time standing which will take most new people a few weeks to get accustomed to the physical demands.

This is a fast paced and energetic environment. You will be handling various wooden structures and hardware parts when assembling them in boxes according to the instructions provided.

Compensation
  • Ability to earn up to $18.00 per hour (Depending on experience, shift, tenure, performance, and attendance)
  • The pack line is currently working M โ€“ Th, shift starts at 6am โ€“ approximately 2:30pm with required seasonal OT (working up to 10 hour days, working Fridays and some Saturdays)
Primary Responsibilities
  • Physical & strenuous labor that requires repetitive movements (standing, bending, squatting, twisting, lifting and reaching)
  • Review pack drawings / instructions for multiple stations
  • Assists Lift Truck operators with line set up and tear down
  • Completes Pre-Shift / start up equipment and material inspection
  • Continually monitor and call for part / material quality
  • Package materials in boxes that move down the conveyor
  • Pay close attention to precise location / placement of materials being packaged
  • Operates within standard operation procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Clean and maintain work area
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • Ability to read a tape measure and follow specific work instructions
  • Working knowledge of mathematical functions
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
  • Must wear any combination - steel / composite toe boot / shoe (not provided by company)
  • Reliability and attendance is crucial for production
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Eligible first of the month following 30 days of employment.
