Job Summary

The Packaging Planner at Gummy Works is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all packaging materials and activities to support production and customer demand. This role ensures the right packaging materials are available at the right time, in the right quantities, while maintaining quality, cost efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly packaging schedules based on demand, production output, and material availability. 
  • Plan and manage inventory levels of packaging materials (bags, bottles, pouches, cartons, labels, corrugate, etc.)
  • Coordinate with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth packaging operations
  • Create and update packaging production schedules to minimize downtime and material shortages
  • Monitor packaging material consumption and adjust plans based on demand changes
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure onโ€‘time delivery and resolve shortages or delays
  • Maintain accurate packaging data in ERP/MRP systems (forecasts, BOMs, safety stock, lead times)
  • Identify opportunities to improve packaging efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs
  • Ensure all packaging materials meet food safety, regulatory, and brand requirements
  • Support new product launches by coordinating packaging trials and material readiness
  • Analyze packaging KPIs (inventory turns, service levels, waste, downtime) and report performance
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within packaging and supply chain operations. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in packaging planning, production planning, or supply chain within food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials and manufacturing processes
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft 365 Dynamics or similar)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
  • Strong organizational, problemโ€‘solving, and timeโ€‘management skills
  • Ability to work crossโ€‘functionally in a fastโ€‘paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required, English is required.


Additional Skills

  • Experience specifically in gummy manufacturing or vitamin/supplement production.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, FDA requirements)
  • APICS/CPIM or similar certification.
