Sales Manager - Pacific Honda

Job Summary:

 

The Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the sales operations of the dealership, including managing the sales team, developing and implementing sales strategies, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets. This role involves driving sales performance, enhancing customer satisfaction, and maintaining efficient sales processes to contribute to the overall success of the dealership.

Essential Functions:

 

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve dealership sales goals and targets.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, including metrics such as lead generation, conversion rates, and revenue.
  • Provide leadership and support to the sales team, including setting performance expectations, conducting performance reviews, and offering coaching and training.
  • Recruit, train, and develop sales staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Motivate and lead the sales team to meet or exceed sales goals while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Handle personnel issues, including disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and employee development.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided throughout the sales process, from initial contact to post-sale follow-up.
  • Offer test drives to all prospects. Follow dealership procedures to obtain proper identification from customers prior to test drive.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints or issues promptly and effectively.
  • Implement and promote customer satisfaction initiatives and programs to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Oversee the sales process, including lead management, vehicle demonstrations, negotiations, and closing sales.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for sales activities and ensure compliance with dealership policies.
  • Review and analyze sales reports to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the inventory management team to ensure optimal vehicle inventory levels and mix.
  • Monitor market conditions and adjust inventory levels and vehicle pricing as needed.
  • Coordinate with the reconditioning team to ensure vehicles are prepared for sale in a timely manner.
  • Work with the marketing department to develop and execute promotional campaigns and events to drive traffic and sales.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of marketing efforts and adjust strategies as needed to maximize results.
  • Represent the dealership at community events and promotional activities to enhance visibility and attract potential customers.
  • Oversee the preparation and processing of sales documentation, including contracts, financing applications, and vehicle registrations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales transactions, customer interactions, and inventory management.
  • Prepare and present sales performance reports to dealership management, including insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure all sales activities comply with dealership policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, market conditions, and best practices to maintain compliance and drive business success.
  • Foster a culture of integrity and professionalism within the sales team.
  • Directing merchandising and advertising efforts for the new/used-vehicle department.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, hire, and train department staff.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
  • Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Manage discipline and termination of employees in alignment with company policies.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of automotive sales experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Sales Manager.
  • Valid state sales license.
  • Proven track record in the California automotive industry.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California driver's license within 30 days following date of hire.
  • At least one year of verifiable driving experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in using dealership management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Extensive knowledge of the merchandise sold.
  • Ability to anticipate customers’ needs.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
