How much do pcr dna jobs pay per hour?
What is a PCR DNA?
A PCR DNA job typically involves using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) techniques to amplify and analyze DNA sequences in laboratory settings. Professionals in this role may work in research, medical diagnostics, forensics, or biotechnology, performing DNA extraction, PCR setup, and data interpretation. They ensure accuracy in genetic testing, troubleshoot experimental issues, and maintain laboratory equipment. Strong attention to detail and knowledge of molecular biology techniques are essential for success in this role.
What does a PCR DNA professional do?
A typical day in a PCR DNA laboratory role involves preparing and setting up PCR reactions, running thermal cyclers, and analyzing DNA samples for research or diagnostic purposes. You’ll be responsible for maintaining meticulous lab records, troubleshooting experiments, and ensuring all equipment is calibrated for optimal performance. Collaboration with other scientists or lab technicians is common, especially for coordinating sample management and interpreting results. This hands-on, detail-oriented work supports broader research or clinical projects, making accuracy and teamwork essential to success in the role.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the PCR DNA position?
To thrive in a PCR DNA role, you need a strong foundation in molecular biology, hands-on experience with PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) techniques, and typically a degree in a relevant life science field. Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as thermal cyclers, pipettes, and DNA analysis software, as well as certifications in laboratory safety, are often expected. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication are valuable soft skills in this position. These skills ensure precise DNA amplification, data accuracy, and smooth collaboration within laboratory teams, which are critical for reliable research and diagnostics.

Job description
The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a Research Specialist II position in the laboratory of Dr. Huimin Zhang, who joined MUSC as an Assistant Professor in November 2025. This position is available immediately and offers an exciting opportunity to participate in cutting‑edge cancer and genome stability research within a highly collaborative academic environment. The Zhang Laboratory is dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms that drive genomic instability in cancer and to identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities that can be leveraged to improve cancer treatment. Current research focuses on DNA damage response and repair pathways, with particular emphasis on how cells respond to chemotherapy‑induced DNA damage and maintain genome integrity. Ongoing projects investigate the mechanisms of action and cellular responses to topoisomerase‑targeting agents, with the goal of developing more effective and selective cancer therapies.
