We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, ambitious team player to join our growing team as an Entry-Level Cable Technician with lots of room for growth! This position is focused on new Category 5e and Category 6 cabling and fiber optic installations, in addition to AV, security surveillance, and access control projects. Candidates should have a solid foundation in low-voltage installations and a strong desire to grow their skill set in the field.

The Cable Technician will primarily be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper, coax, and fiber optic cables. You may also be requested to assist in other areas such as the installation of professional AV/video conferencing systems, security cameras, and access control solutions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Run, terminate, pull, and test copper cable (Category 5e and Category 6)
  • Run, terminate, pull, and test fiber optic cable and A/V (coax, etc.) cable
  • Assemble new rack equipment (2-post, 4-post, ladder racking, wire-management, etc.)
  • Test and troubleshoot miscellaneous cabling and A/V issues
  • Install other items such as access points, time clocks, paging equipment, A/V equipment, etc.
  • Perform all work in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and Prevailing Wage requirements when applicable
  • Other tasks as needed

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on cabling experience in the field
  • Ability to troubleshoot miscellaneous cabling issues
  • Ability and experience with reading blueprints/building plans
  • Clear communication skills (verbal and written) and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Professional appearance and ability to work with clients in the field
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and insurable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours occasionally to meet client deadlines (including early mornings, late nights, or overnight work)
