Bird launched micromobility. Now we're shaping its future.

We're Bird, and we're on a mission to transform the way the world moves-one ride at a time. Our products, services, and people share one goal: making cities more livable by enabling clean, accessible transportation.

Who We Are:

Bird is a global leader in micromobility, providing affordable, on-demand transportation in over 200 cities worldwide. We partner closely with cities to deliver safe, sustainable alternatives to cars and reduce congestion and emissions.

Job Summary:

We're looking for a dependable Overnight Operations Specialist (Driver) to support fleet operations across New York City.

In this role, you'll drive a company van throughout NYC during overnight hours, repositioning e-scooters/e-bikes, swapping batteries, and ensuring vehicles are safe, charged, and ready for riders by morning. This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, comfortable working independently at night, and confident navigating city streets.

Shift:

  • Overnight: 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM
  • Two consecutive days off each week

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a company vehicle using app-based routing across NYC
  • Load, unload, and transport scooters and e-bikes (50-90 lbs)
  • Rebalance fleet from low-demand to high-demand areas
  • Swap batteries and ensure all devices are properly charged
  • Perform basic diagnostics and flag damaged or malfunctioning vehicles
  • Clean, disinfect, and prepare vehicles for daily rider use
  • Stage and organize vehicles in warehouse locations
  • Conduct routine checks on company vehicles
  • Collaborate with team members via mobile apps and in-person communication
  • Assist with testing and quality assurance for new product features

Pay:

  • $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Must Have:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • At least 2 years of driving experience
  • Comfortable driving a cargo van in NYC (tight streets, traffic, night conditions)
  • Ability to lift up to 80-90 lbs
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently
  • Smartphone proficiency (app-based navigation and task management)
  • Basic English communication skills

Highly Desired:

  • Experience driving larger vehicles (cargo vans, box trucks, U-Hauls)
  • Familiarity with NYC streets, boroughs, and traffic patterns
  • Background in delivery, logistics, warehouse, or rideshare work
  • Mechanically inclined (basic troubleshooting/maintenance)

Why Bird Matters:

Every ride helps build a more livable city:

  • Freedom: Easy, flexible transportation
  • Exploration: Making everyday trips more engaging
  • Community: Connecting neighborhoods and people
  • Sustainability: Reducing emissions and car dependency
