Job Title: SPD Installation and Service Technician
Mission: Our core mission is to deliver high-quality, dependable, and cost-effective pretreatment and chemical feed systems that require minimal installation time and technical expertise from both our sales team and customers. Our primary focus and revenue source lie in the sale of water treatment chemicals.
Purpose of the Job: The primary goal of the Critical Water Technician is to provide basic start-up, installation and service of SPD critical water systems This role is crucial in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of water purification systems.
Level of Authority: The Critical Water Technician works independently to oversee and execute the installation, commissioning, and start-up of critical water equipment for sterile processing departments. This includes:
  • Authorization to make real-time decisions regarding the setup, configuration, and operational adjustments of water purification systems to ensure they meet the required critical water standards.
  • Conducting comprehensive system checks, diagnostics, and performance validations to verify that all equipment operates correctly and efficiently.
  • Authorization to collaborate with healthcare facility management, sterile processing teams, and equipment manufacturers to schedule, report issues, and make recommendations.
  • Providing training and guidance to facility staff on the proper use and maintenance of critical water systems.

Work Environment: The Critical Water Technician operates primarily within healthcare facilities, focusing on sterile processing departments where critical water equipment is installed, commissioned, and started up.
  • Works in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, surgical centers, and clinics.
  • Responsibilities are carried out in technical areas, including mechanical rooms, utility spaces, and sterile processing units.

  • Perform testing, validation, and calibration of equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Provide training on the proper operation and maintenance of water purification systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to water purification systems to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation
  • Provide ongoing support and preventive maintenance services to ensure optimal performance and longevity of installed equipment
  • Adhere to strict health and safety protocols and practices while working on-site, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Qualifications and Capabilities:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certification or degree in engineering, water treatment, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of critical water purification systems.
  • In-depth understanding of water purification systems, including Water Softeners, Filtration, Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Deionization (DI) systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues related to water treatment equipment and systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare staff, facility management, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to address and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Proficiency in using tools and equipment related to system installation, maintenance, and repair, including pressure gauges, multi-meters, and calibration tools.

Physical and Personal Attributes:
  • Ability to handle physical demands, including lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods
  • Must have good depth perception and ability to distinguish different colors
  • Must have hearing sufficient to hear verbal and audible signals at a moderate distance.
  • Strong customer service skills to effectively manage client relationships, address concerns, and provide training and support to facility staff as needed.
