Healthcare Equipment Technician
Location: Florida (Travel Required)
Department: Field Operations
Reports To: Regional ManagerPosition Summary
KR Wolfe is seeking a Healthcare Equipment Installation & Service Technician to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of sterilization, decontamination, and laboratory equipment within healthcare and pharmaceutical environments.
This position works with specialized equipment including sterilizers, autoclaves, cart washers, decontamination systems, and related utility infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with steam systems, plumbing, pipefitting, water treatment systems, healthcare construction projects, or industrial equipment installations.
This is a travel-based role supporting new construction, renovation, equipment replacement, and preventative maintenance projects throughout assigned territories.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install, assemble, and commission sterilization and decontamination equipment in hospitals, healthcare facilities, laboratories, and pharmaceutical environments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on sterilizers, autoclaves, cart washers, and related equipment.
  • Connect and verify utility services including steam, condensate, drain, DI water, RO water, compressed air, and electrical connections.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, installation manuals, piping diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic, and utility-related issues.
  • Conduct equipment testing, startup activities, and operational verification.
  • Document service activities, maintenance records, and project updates accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare facility safety requirements, infection control procedures, and customer site protocols.
  • Coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, facility personnel, and customers.
  • Travel to customer locations to support installation, maintenance, and repair activities as required.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical installation, industrial maintenance, plumbing, pipefitting, healthcare construction, or related technical trades.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and installation documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work in construction and healthcare environments.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within Sterile Processing Departments (SPD) or Central Sterile environments.
  • Experience servicing, installing, or maintaining:
    • Sterilizers
    • Autoclaves
    • Cart Washers
    • Washer Disinfectors
    • Decontamination Equipment
  • Knowledge of:
    • Steam systems
    • Steam lines
    • Condensate systems
    • Drain lines
    • DI (Deionized) water systems
    • RO (Reverse Osmosis) water systems
  • Industrial pipefitting or commercial plumbing experience.
  • Biomedical equipment (Biomed/BMET) experience.
  • Laboratory equipment installation or maintenance experience.
  • Healthcare construction experience including new construction and renovation projects.
  • Trade certification in plumbing, pipefitting, industrial maintenance, HVAC, or related discipline.
