Job description

Solar Installers Needed for public works prevailing wage work


This is prevailing wage work pay is set per the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) prevailing wage determination for this classification and county - DIR prevailing wage determination (plus applicable fringe benefits)


Responsibilities:

  • Install solar PV systems, mounting hardware, and racking on commercial/public works sites
  • Run and terminate conduit, wiring, and electrical connections per code and project specs
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety plans
  • Work from blueprints/plans and coordinate with crew leads and inspectors
  • Accurately report hours and work performed for certified payroll compliance


Requirements:

  • Prior experience in solar installation or related electrical/construction trade
  • Ability to pass a background check and, if applicable, provide DIR public works registration
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license; reliable transportation to Burbank job site
  • Willingness to comply with certified payroll reporting requirements (accurate daily time records)

Job Responsibilities:


  • As a Solar Installer, you will work closely with the team to complete residential and small commercial solar installation projects under your foreman's watch.

Physical requirements:


  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to: excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity
  • Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills, including but not limited to: fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Ability to work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
  • Ability to work in the sun and possibly low light conditions
  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
  • Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, green
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces which requires kneeling and crouching
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections
  • Ability to climb ladders with up to 50lbs on your back
  • Work in extreme environments (i.e. hot sun, cold weather, hot attics, etc.)
  • Ability to walk on a residential roof with safety equipment (harnesses and ropes provided)
  • Installation of roof-mounted solar systems
  • Racking and solar array assembly
  • Sealing all roof penetrations
  • Trenching, concrete work, and equipment assembly
  • Project clean up


Qualifications:


To take on this important role, you must be a proven leader and problem solver with: High school diploma or equivalent


  • A minimum of two years of construction experience, including one year in solar installation
  • Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • State electrical certification/license preferred
  • Ability to perform all duties of the Installer and Lead Installer
  • Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards
  • Understanding of relevant OSHA standards
  • CPR and first aid certifications
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong mechanical/construction abilities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills
  • 5% travel is required
  • Previous solar installation experience
  • Prior experience leading teams of 3-5
  • Electrical and/or roofing experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Clean DMV MVR) REPORT
