Nature of Work Classified-Exempt Position Executive/Charleston HQ Under general supervision of the Employment Services Manager this position performs administrative tasks and duties by providing support services for DNR Human Resources at the Human Resources Generalist level. Candidate will serve as the hourly payroll coordinator and have the primary responsibility for coordinating and processing the payroll for all DNR hourly employees though the wvOASIS payroll system, which also includes related personnel and fiscal functions such as verifying accuracy of timesheets and hourly employment forms submitted for processing, calculating hours and gross wages, verifying hourly rates, tips, differential pay, completing required forms, etc. Will perform all maintenance required for above employees' accounts such as name and address changes, wage increases, activations, terminations, tax changes, maintaining personnel files, etc.
Responsible for advising and training contacts throughout the various DNR facilities on hourly payroll/personnel matters, accurate timekeeping, proper completion of forms, etc. Employee will be responsible for updating and providing paper timesheets via email to facilities with hourly employees. Employee will submit required paperwork for the approval of hourly employees through HRM workflow.
Assist with employment and wage verification of temporary employees. Will also serve as backup completing personnel transactions for full time employees, answering the telephone, responding to inquiries, directing calls, etc. Employee must be a self starter, show initiative, and must be able to work independently.
Must be able to appropriately manage personal and confidential data, and work under pressure of strict deadlines. Must possess a high degree of accuracy, good math skills, attention to detail, and good written and oral communication skills, must be able to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, management, and other contacts such as those in the Auditor's office, Treasury, etc. May be required to work extended hours upon short notice.
Limited overnight travel for training purposes may be required. Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as PC, calculator, copier, printer, fax, etc. Performs related duties as required.

Substitution: Candidates may substitute related experience in human resources, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting for the required education at the rate of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester hours of education. Note: A valid driver's license may be required. Other Information Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in payroll, wvOASIS HRM and UKG, Google, Word, and Excel.
