Summary:

Champion Construction Service (CCS) is seeking an experienced and reliable construction laborer to join the team. The Laborer will participate in all aspects of the on-site assembly of manufactured housing and will report directly to a Construction Crew Lead.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of this position are outlined below. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs all manual labor in the area to which assigned.
  • Keeps area and site organized and clean
  • Read and use a tape measure
  • Read blueprints and orders
  • Communicate well with coworkers
  • Use hand tools, air tools, and electrical tools
  • Represent Champion with a friendly attitude and professional demeanor

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for the full duration of the workday
  • Must have clear vision at both close and distant ranges
  • Ability to hear clearly
  • Must be available to travel (up to 5-6 hours away), with occasional overnight stays
  • Must be willing to work outside in all four seasons

Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Must have the ability to work quickly and methodically
  • Must understand safety procedures
  • Must have good teamwork skills
  • Must live the Champion Operating Principles
  • Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of houses or buildings
  • Ability to troubleshoot, reason, and solve problems
  • Previous experience in manufacturing/modular housing desired
  • Preference will be given to those applicants with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Must be available to work Monday through Saturday
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
