Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to maintain the integrity, security, and availability of multiple enterprise-level databases within a secure DoD environment. This role is responsible for full lifecycle database administration, including performance optimization, disaster recovery, system security, and compliance with mission and business requirements. The ideal candidate has extensive experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and SYBASE databases in high-availability environments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the integrity, security, and availability of multiple database systems
Administer, develop, and implement database security policies and procedures
Establish and manage database user accounts and access controls
Perform disaster recovery planning, backup and restore operations, and continuity support
Conduct performance analysis and tuning, including index maintenance and database optimization
Monitor database health, capacity, and performance metrics
Organize and format data for efficient query and storage processes
Direct database performance optimization efforts, including restructuring databases and reloading data
Coordinate database architecture changes with database engineers and system architects
Direct installation and configuration of DBMS software, databases, tables, and views
Evaluate requirements and recommend appropriate DBMS products and solutions
Perform database and application server administration (Oracle, SQL Server, SYBASE)
Support data modeling efforts through prototype database implementations
Lead the adoption and administration of emerging database tools and technologies
Ensure compliance with security standards and DoD policies
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification or higher
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline from an accredited college or university
Four (4) additional years of database administration experience may be substituted for a degree
Strong hands-on experience with:
Microsoft SQL Server
Oracle Database
SYBASE
Experience with database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization
Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
Knowledge of database security best practices in classified environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community environments
Experience in high-availability and clustered database environments
Familiarity with data modeling tools and methodologies
Experience working with emerging database technologies and automation tools
