Job description

Do you want to be part of an elite Division I program? Grand Canyon University's Athletic Department is passionate about helping student-athletes achieve their highest level of excellence. The Athletic Department uses intercollegiate sport as a platform for developing our student-athletes in integrity, and personal growth.

Reporting to the Head Coach, the Director of Player Development is a member of the requisite sport staff and a highly valued contributor to the future success of the program. This position will execute a technological strategy that will complement efforts in player development and recruitment in the areas of data, video collection and analysis.


This position will assist with troubleshooting, maintenance and review of all technologies and tools associated with the requisite sport program.

What you will do:

Player Development/Coaching

  • Management of data collection using the latest sport analytics technology applications

  • Analyzes and Communicates data to appropriate sport lead

  • Manage the collection and processing of film for practices and games, using sport specific technologies

  • Assists in capturing content and data used to promote the sport program and foster fan engagement

  • Organize and manage film and data use for in-game strategy of future opponents

Data Analysis and Integration

  • Independently provides strategic direction to the sport program, based on research and data informed decisions

  • Creates reports and presents data and film analysis to players and coaches

  • Acts as an advisor to the coaching staff in utilizing metrics to create training programs to encourage enhanced athletic performance

  • Works closely with the strength and conditioning staff to incorporate analytics to determine, biomechanics, motor behavior and movement

  • Responsible for opponent scouting and disseminating the information collected to the coaching staff

  • Will work with other sports, in addition to their own, to utilize resources in recruitment and opponent strategy

Operations

  • Assist the head coach with competition scheduling.

  • Assist the head coach in the planning, marketing and operation of sports camps.

  • Ensures all aspects of the designated sports program complies with University standards and conference and national affiliation rules and regulations.Identifies potential risk and helps in establishing criteria and plans for correction.

  • Promotes good sportsmanship behavior and enforces discipline, establishes and oversees penalties for breach of standards by members of the team.

  • Participate actively in promotion of GCU athletics and campus events.

  • Other duties as assigned by the head coach, athletic director/athletic director designee.

  • Assist coaching staff with alumni engagement and/or fundraising events with sport program.

  • May perform duties which require irregular hours, out of town and/or overnight travel.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • At least three years of intercollegiate and/or elite level sport specific coaching and/or playing and training experience.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Division 1 sport specific program and NCAA rules.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • CPR, First Aid and Coaches' Safety Training certifications.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment investigation.

  • Must be able to lawfully accept employment in the U.S.

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University's Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Bonus:

  • Master's Degree preferred.

  • Experience coaching in NCAA Division I preferred.

  • AED certification preferred.
