About The Role:

As a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) specializing in NDT/NDE, you will guide metals technicians on intricate projects that demand advanced testing expertise. You will oversee other technicians on assignments, make some technical decisions related to project timelines, and carry out laboratory and metals testing tasks with minimal oversight. Your role will involve fieldwork, which may include safely ascending steel structures like buildings, cell towers, and water tanks to heights over 200 feet, using fall protection gear and personal fall arrest systems.

  • Field Operations: You perform inspections and utilize non-destructive testing techniques to maintain high-quality standards. A large portion of your field inspection time is dedicated to non-destructive testing (NDT) activities such as ultrasonic testing (UT) of welds and/or magnetic particle testing (MT) of welds.
  • Assignment Management: You coordinate testing assignments across various projects, ensuring the success of each one.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Keep testing equipment operational and calibrated; this may involve managing field and lab equipment inventories, maintaining formal calibration records, and participating in quality system audits.
  • Comprehensive Reporting: You create detailed reports to effectively communicate your findings.

The position will require 50+ hour work weeks (during periods of peak workload), as well as off-shift and weekend work, as required. Experience in Safety, DDC, NDT, and/or Radiation Training, including the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems, is a plus.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage demanding workloads. You should bring a proactive, safetyminded approach, communicate clearly with team members and clients, and stay organized while handling multiple priorities. Experience in Safety, DDC, NDT, or Radiation Training is highly valued and will help you succeed in this role.

What You Bring:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of NDT/NDE metals testing experience OR an associate degree in a closely related field
  • Certifications:
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
    • Achievement of ASNT Level II per ASTN-SNT-1A in at least one method
    • Additional Certs a plus:
      • ICC in Building Inspections and/or Structural Steel Inspection
      • Level II UT and/or PT, MT

  • Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
  • Climbing heights over 200 feet
  • Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
  • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
  • Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
