Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical & Low Voltage Field Technician to support installation, upgrade, and maintenance projects at customer sites across the United States. This position is ideal for a dependable, self-directed technician who is comfortable working in the field, solving problems independently, and traveling frequently. The role involves a mix of electrical work and low-voltage/data infrastructure tasks in active commercial environments. Most projects are completed during overnight hours to minimize disruption to operations, and travel for extended periods is expected.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, replace, and configure network switches, rack equipment, and related hardware
  • Mount, relocate, and secure equipment cabinets, racks, and associated infrastructure
  • Safely disconnect, reconnect, or modify electrical power as required for equipment installation or relocation
  • Perform structured cabling work including routing, termination, labeling, and testing
  • Maintain and organize MDF/IDF rooms, ensuring proper cable management and documentation
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and network layouts
  • Follow all applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and company procedures
  • Coordinate with project leads, site contacts, and team members to complete work on schedule
  • Document completed work, materials used, and any issues encountered in the field
  • Troubleshoot electrical or network connectivity problems and implement solutions
  • Travel to assigned job sites as required, often on short notice

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Electrical Journeyman or Apprentice license, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical, low voltage, or data/communications installation
  • Experience installing network equipment, racks, or structured cabling systems
  • Ability to safely work with electrical circuits and perform basic modifications
  • Familiarity with cable management practices and telecommunications room standards
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment up to approximately 75 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and flexible schedules as required
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in tight or elevated spaces

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in retail, distribution, or large commercial facilities
  • Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and structured cabling standards
  • Experience with fiber optic installation, testing tools, or certification equipment
  • Ability to lead small crews or coordinate with subcontractors on site

Work Environment & Schedule
This is a travel-based field position that typically requires overnight work hours and extended stays away from home depending on project location. Schedules may vary based on customer needs and project timelines.
