Job description

Job Summary

Completes data entry and ensures data is entered in a timely and confidential manner. Maintains client files according to SEC policy and ICADV guidelines.


Essential Functions
  1. Documents all direct contacts with clients and processes forms accurately.
  2. Enters Domestic Violence program information into database and works with staff to ensure data is entered in a timely and confidential manner.
  3. Prepares and maintains all Domestic Violence/Shelter program client files.
  4. Completes quarterly and monthly reports.
  5. Organizes desk area and makes sure supplies are available.
  6. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with preferably two (2) or more years of college in a human service field
  • Proficient with computer and data entry systems
  • Previous volunteer work or experience in social service preferred
  • Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence issues and previous training on those issues preferred
  • Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
  • Ability to work well with a variety of people (racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, age groups), and with individuals who are differently-disabled
  • Ability to deal with stress-related situations
  • Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork
  • A demonstrated commitment to women and non-violence through previous volunteer work or employment preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Up to 25% of work time spent standing/walking
  • Up to 25% of work time spent lifting/moving up to 20 pounds
  • Up to 25% of work time spent pulling/pushing up to 20 pounds
  • Up to 50% of work time spent typing/grasping/feeling
  • Up to 50% of work time spent bending/stooping
  • 75% up to 100% of work time will be spent at your workspace

Employment Criteria

  • Must complete Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis 40-hour training within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able to pass a background and fingerprint check
  • Must be drug free and out of the legal system for at least two (2) years
  • Must be able to work overnight shifts

This position requires background checks through DCFS and Illinois State Police.
