Job description

Per year, across America, thousands of new buildings sport the familiar Morton M.

Construction Coordinators work with Morton Buildings’ Sales Consultants to coordinate the construction of entire projects.  The projects must be scheduled efficiently and built to the highest industry standards to maximize customer satisfaction. The Construction Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to assist the Sales Consultants in all aspects of the sales process (pre-sale and post-sale) to maximize sales efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Assists the salesforce throughout the pre-sale phase; coordinating subcontractor bids and scope development; assisting with pricing, estimating, contract preparation, and RFI responses; and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates project planning and pre-construction activities; reviewing contract documents; participating in pre-construction meetings; assisting with permits and inspections; and helping establish project schedules and priorities.
  • Builds and maintains subcontractor relationships; developing and maintaining an approved subcontractor network; coordinating subcontract agreements; and ensuring adequate subcontractor resources are available to support project needs.
  • Coordinates workforce scheduling and jobsite logistics; assisting with scheduling crews; scheduling and arranging special equipment, such as cranes and lifts; and verifying sites are properly prepared, including port-a-pots and dumpsters, proper access to properties, and ensuring work sites are safe (power lines, etc.).
  • Monitors project progress to ensure projects comply with building plans and contract documents, and subcontractor work meets quality and scope requirements; addressing issues that may impact project success such as material shortages.
  • Manages project documentation; coordinating invoices, lien waivers, inspection records, completion documents, and other required project paperwork to support timely project closeout.
  • Collaborates with sales, construction, subcontractors, and management teams; facilitating communication and issue resolution; identifying cost-saving opportunities; and supporting safe, efficient, and successful project outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field or 5+ years of progressive construction management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent follow through
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Familiarity with construction and project management systems
  • Knowledge of industry standards for materials and methods for construction
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and comparing them with construction in progress
  • Displays integrity and ability to maintain customer confidentiality
  • Self-motivated with positive high-energy work ethic
  • Capability to work well with other team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, and Word, and ability to work in a customer database software environment
  • Ability to travel, including overnight
