What is an overnight construction laborer?

Overnight Construction Laborers are workers who perform various physical tasks at construction sites during nighttime hours. Their duties often include loading and unloading materials, operating machinery, cleaning and preparing job sites, and assisting skilled tradespeople. Working overnight is essential for projects that require minimal disruption to daytime activities, such as roadwork or renovations in busy areas. These laborers must be comfortable working in low-light conditions and often need to follow strict safety protocols due to the unique challenges of night work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight construction laborer?

To thrive as an Overnight Construction Laborer, you need physical stamina, basic construction knowledge, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand and power tools, safety equipment, and adherence to OSHA regulations is often required. Team communication is crucial during overnight shifts, so workers are encouraged to stay connected with supervisors and colleagues to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Job description

$18–$23/hr | Year-Round Work | 40-Hour Weeks | Monday–Friday | No Overnight/Travel

DeLoa & Sons Construction is hiring a dependable Construction Laborer to join our team. We are a local, family-owned general contractor serving the Omaha metro area, specializing in residential and commercial remodeling, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, and a variety of other construction projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone with some construction experience who wants steady, year-round work, exposure to multiple areas of construction, and the opportunity to grow their skills and advance within the company.

You'll work alongside an experienced Lead Carpenter and assist with a variety of remodeling and construction tasks. Because our projects vary, you'll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in multiple areas of the trade.
Why Work With DeLoa & Sons?

  • $18–$23/hour, based on experience and skill level
  • Year-round, full-time work
  • Typically 40 hours per week
  • Primarily Monday–Friday
  • Weekend work is rare and planned in advance
  • Overtime is occasionally available but is not the norm
  • Time-and-a-half for qualifying overtime, with double-time opportunities on certain jobs
  • No out-of-town travel or overnight stays
  • Local projects throughout the Omaha metro area
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) – accrue 1 hour for every 30 hours worked and use it for vacation, sick time, appointments, or personal time
  • 6 paid holidays
  • Access to voluntary employee-paid benefits, including dental, vision, short-term disability, accident, hospitalization, cancer, and critical illness coverage
  • Company-provided work shirts
  • Performance bonus opportunities
  • Opportunities to learn new skills and advance within the company
  • Company events and parties

What You'll Do

As a Construction Laborer, you'll work alongside a Lead Carpenter and assist with day-to-day work on a variety of remodeling and construction projects.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Assisting the Lead Carpenter with daily jobsite tasks
  • Demolition and jobsite preparation
  • Assisting with framing and general carpentry
  • Assisting with trim and finish work
  • Window and door installation
  • Siding
  • Deck construction
  • Tile and other remodeling work
  • Loading, unloading, and moving tools and materials
  • Setting up and cleaning up jobsites
  • Maintaining an organized and professional work area
  • Learning proper use of construction tools and equipment
  • Following instructions and completing assigned tasks
  • Helping the crew keep projects moving efficiently
Our remodeling projects vary, so no two jobs are exactly the same. You'll have the opportunity to work on and learn multiple areas of construction rather than performing the same task every day.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, willing to work, and interested in building their construction skills.

  • Previous construction or remodeling experience preferred
  • Basic experience with hand and power tools preferred
  • Willingness to learn multiple areas of construction
  • Ability to follow direction and work alongside a Lead Carpenter
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with construction work
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to our Papillion shop
Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of applicable pre-employment screening, including a background check.
Pay

$18–$23/hour, based on experience and skill level.

We're looking for someone who wants more than a temporary labor job. If you're looking for steady year-round work, a predictable Monday–Friday schedule, local projects, and an opportunity to develop your construction skills and grow into a higher-level position, we'd like to hear from you.
Apply today with your work history and references.
