Job description

Summary:
  1. Provide mechanical engineering technical support, product training and application assistance to the region's staff and customer base in order to advance daily sales activities.
  2. Share the Corporate Engineering workload.
  3. Develop new product as required from customer inquiry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical support
  • Provide technical support, information, seminar and training to customer and THK staff
    (New Engineer, Other Regional Engineer, District Manager, Sales Administration Representative, etc).

Meet with customer for technical discussion
  • Meet and/or discuss with customer regarding to Mechatronics and/or Engineering projects/issues.
  • Meet with customer regarding to applications or troubleshooting.

Calculation/Selection
  • Conduct product sizing, selection based on customer parameters.
  • Static/dynamic analysis of application.
  • Solve Engineering calculations/issues for Customers.

Develop new product
  • Design new product in order to respond to customer inquiry and plan its verification process.
  • Work with factory, and implement standardization of new product from individual customer project.
  • Plan new product according to market demand (Information from Institution, Exhibition, and Target accounts)

Document/ Report
  • Prepare and manage engineering documentation on all projects.
  • Submit a monthly report on engineering activities and customer visits.
  • Create seminar documents as needed.

Corporate Engineering Job
  • Double check for Approval drawing, Exam Report Request, from other regions.
  • Distribute new information received from THK Japan to all regional engineers.
  • Ask questions to THK Japan / TMA and achieve solution.
  • Plan, announce, prepare, and host the Engineering meetings.
  • Plan, prepare, and work on Corporate Engineering projects to help increasing individual skill and the level of THK Engineering.

Others
  • Attend and assist during trade shows.
  • Check general catalog and individual production catalog.

  • Customer Intellectual Property. All other information deemed confidential by THK.
  • Controlled information, documents, drawing, etc.

  • All THK products engineering knowledge in detail or ability to learn.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Basics (Statis, Dynamics, Mechanics, Materials, Electric, etc.)
  • Proficient in using a PC and standard professional software. (Word, Excel, Power point etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written).
  • 3D/2D CAD Skills helpful (Solidworks Preferred). Ability to read/understand and create drawings.

Education/Field
  • Bachelor of science degree in Engineering (Mechanical Preferred)

Experience/Field
  • 0-3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering field.

Language Skills
  • Read, write and understand English essential, Japanese helpful but not required.
  • Technical (symbols, verbiage, basics of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) reading and writing.

Mathematical Skills
  • All above and Metric/English conversions.

Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to logically and accurately apply engineering principles to various situations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Ability to manage and prioritize various tasks
  • Absorb and carry out instructions and training, and apply to various situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Drivers License; Engineer In Training (EIT) preferred
