Adjunct - Biology Lab Instructor (Pool)
Department:
Biology
Physical Demands:
Able to traverse campus, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, vision, hearing, and talking.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
Adjunct Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on an as needed basis. These positions are filled prior to or during each semester and are contingent upon the needs of the College.
Brazosport College accepts application materials for pool positions on a continuing basis throughout the year from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis.
Academic departments will contact potential applicants when there are available openings.
  • Reports to the Division Chair of Mathematics and Sciences
  • Teaches Life Science courses using traditional and alternative delivery methods to assist students to master concepts. Example courses are: General Biology, Nutrition, Anatomy & Physiology, Genetic, Microbiology, Environmental Science and associated labs.
  • All laboratory curricula and assessments are designed and evaluated by faculty holding a master's degree or higher.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and across a wide range of age groups.
  • Experiences that enhance one's value to the institution and students
  • Works with faculty in Life Science Department

College benefits do not accrue with this part-time position.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Botany, Aquatic Biology, Cellular Biology, Integrative Biology, Immunology, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or Zoology
    • Interest in alternative instructional delivery methods
    • Demonstrated ability in working with culturally diverse populations;
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one's value to the institution
    • Exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration as long as Southern Association (SACS) minimum educational credentials are met
    • Teaching course(s) face-to-face
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Familiarity with such Technology as Microsoft Office, Zoom, TEAMS, Learning Management Systems, docu-camera, and computers.
