Halo Overhead Doors is a LOCAL, privately owned (not private equity!) overhead door company in Houston, Texas.
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Overhead Door Estimator / Service Technician to join our team. This dual-role position combines accurate project estimating with hands-on service, repair, and maintenance of commercial overhead door systems. The ideal candidate has a strong technical understanding of roll-up, sectional, and high-speed overhead doors and thrives in both office-based estimating and field service environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the sales team in preparing accurate, competitive estimates and proposals for commercial overhead door projects, including new installations, replacements, and upgrades.
  • Assess job sites, review architectural/engineering drawings, and determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
  • Service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial roll-up doors, sectional doors, and high-speed doors.
  • Diagnose mechanical, and operational issues on a variety of door systems and operators.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, adjustments, and safety inspections in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with customers, general contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely project completion and high customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate service records, parts inventory notes, and job documentation.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures while working on-site and in the shop.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to customers regarding door system performance, upgrades, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a commercial overhead door technician and/or estimator.
  • Strong working knowledge of roll-up doors, sectional doors, and high-speed overhead doors, including operators, controls, safety devices, and common failure points.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple jobs efficiently.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to lift, climb, and work at heights as required for overhead door work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., for major door brands or high-speed door systems).
  • Knowledge of related systems such as dock equipment, access control, or fire-rated doors.
  • Prior experience in both estimating and field service roles.
