Job description

From a small family retail operation in Houston, our business has expanded across the US and S. America to sell over 1 million tons per year. We supply steel for bridges, stadiums, barges and large buildings but one thing will always remain the same: We treat our customers and employees like family.


We are seeking a motivated and results-oriented Outside Sales Representative to join our team. This role focuses on building relationships with new and existing customers, understanding customer needs, and driving sales within the steel and fabrication industry. The position requires expertise in selling products such as beams, tubing, plate processing, sheets, decking, and value-added fabrication services, while maintaining a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and market growth.

  • Actively prospect and generate new business opportunities through outbound sales calls and regular customer outreach.
  • Maintain and expand a database of potential and existing customers, ensuring accurate and complete CRM records.
  • Build and nurture credible relationships with customers to foster trust and long-term partnerships.
  • Quote and handle order execution from acceptance to completion, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
  • Attend sales group meetings to share insights and collaborate with the sales team.
  • Communicate market trends, competitor information, and customer feedback to management.
  • Provide actionable insights on competitor pricing and equipment to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with Inside Sales Representatives to build a pipeline of opportunities and successfully close sales.
  • Capture and address customer suggestions or complaints, working closely with the Quality/Operations group.
  • Utilize CRM software to document customer interactions and maintain a record of important ‘touches.’
  • Be willing to assist in other departments as needed to support overall business goals.

  • Proven experience in outside sales, preferably in steel products or industrial fabrication.
  • Knowledge of steel products, including beams, tubing, plate processing, sheets, decking, and related services.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with CRM software and other sales tools to track customer interactions and sales progress.
  • Ability to analyze competitor information and provide strategic insights to management.
