This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Dune Deck Beach Club, set in Westhampton Beach, New York.
Dune Deck Beach Club is seeking seasonal Pool/Beach Attendants to join the Outdoor Pursuits Department. This position is available until September 30, 2026.
The Pool/Beach Attendant will ensure that the highest level of service is offered to the members of our Club by providing the member with personal and professional service throughout the property when pertaining to any and all outdoor activities. The Pool/Beach Attendant role is a very hands on role and encompasses the organization, instructing, and encouraging of activities, and as much participation as possible in all activities on property. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Key Responsibilities
  • General
    • Follow the Outdoor pursuits Standard Operating procedure at all times.
    • Perform duties and tasks throughout the Club as assigned such as but not limited to stocking, cleaning and preparing for members excursions and activities.
    • Carry out weekly safety checks on the beach equipment insuring that all meet SOP guidelines.
    • Attend the morning briefing.
    • Attend the end of day shut down-Adhering to the schedule set out by management.
    • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for Outdoor Pursuits-Communicate effectively with your supervisors and managers.
    • Be an ambassador of the property and DLC at all times on or off property.
    • Maintain adherence to and stay abreast to any changes of the Employee Handbook.
    • Need to be on time when starting a shift, prompt with each job assignment.
    • Stock Control: Help to implement monthly stock take/inventories of all parts and tools require for area as advised by OP Manager.
  • Member Related
    • Greeting all members.
    • Participate in activities and games with members.
    • Seating the members, moving chairs and umbrellas accordingly.
    • Supplying members with towels if necessary.
    • Keeping towels and suntan lotion stocked at stations
    • Helping members in and out of the water withwater equipment-Insuring safety of members and children in and around the pools and beach.
    • Making bonfires.
    • Assisting members and guests in all activities.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in the guest service industry.
  • CPR certification is a plus.
  • Certificates/qualifications preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and on the weekends.

Additional Requirements
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
