Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Class: Hourly

Pay Rate: $20-27 Based on Experience

Overtime Eligible: Yes

Work Schedule: Flexible

Supervisory Role: No

Reports To: Director of Outdoor Pursuits and Lake

Relocation Assistance :No

Remote/Telework Eligible: No

Travel Required: No regular or predictable travel. Possibility of driving/traveling less than 100 miles when needed to provide care, servicing, or to purchase gear and boats.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic outdoor professional to join our team at Freestone Lake and Golf. The Outdoor Pursuits Associate is responsible for managing and delivering a wide range of outdoor and waterfront activities, ensuring exceptional experiences for members and guests.

This role works collaboratively across departments, supporting both outdoor operations and member services while upholding safety standards and community guidelines. The Outdoor Pursuits Associate reports directly to the Director of Outdoor Pursuits and Lake.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Valid boating license required (offered by company)

  • Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain during onboarding)

  • CampSafe or OAG SATP-approved certification (or ability to obtain during onboarding)

  • TABC Certification (offered by company)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and hospitality skills with a highly personable approach

  • Experience in bass fishing, including knowledge of techniques and strategies

  • Preferred: Experience towing trailers and launching/backing boats

  • Preferred: Background in outdoor recreation, particularly water sports

  • Preferred: Experience with firearms (shotguns, rifles, handguns) including target, skeet/clay shooting, and waterfowl hunting

  • Preferred: Experience with archery equipment including compound bows, traditional bows, and crossbows

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to run, jump, and actively participate in recreational activities

  • Ability to safely enter and exit watercraft

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain outdoor facilities, equipment, and waterfront areas in safe and excellent condition

  • Lead and instruct activities including wakesurfing, wakeboarding, tubing, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, camping, and organized sports

  • Partner with team members and other departments to deliver a high-quality member experience

  • Enforce all local, state, and federal safety regulations related to outdoor programming

  • Safely operate, dock, and maneuver various types of watercraft
