What is outbound lead generation in sales?

Outbound lead generation in sales is the process of proactively reaching out to potential customers to spark their interest in a product or service. This often involves using methods such as cold calling, email campaigns, and social media outreach to find and engage leads who have not yet shown interest. The goal is to qualify these leads and nurture them through the sales funnel, ultimately converting them into customers. Outbound lead generation is typically driven by a sales team and is a key part of many business development strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an outbound lead generation sales professional?

To thrive in Outbound Lead Generation Sales, you need strong communication, persuasion, and research skills, often supported by experience in sales or marketing. Familiarity with CRM systems, cold-calling software, and lead management tools is typically required. Resilience, persistence, and the ability to quickly build rapport are standout soft skills in this role. These qualities are crucial for consistently identifying and engaging potential clients, driving sales pipeline growth, and meeting targets in a competitive environment.

What are some common challenges faced in an outbound lead generation sales role, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in Outbound Lead Generation Sales is handling frequent rejections and maintaining motivation, as reaching out to cold prospects often results in low response rates. Another challenge is staying organized while managing a high volume of leads and follow-ups. To address these, successful sales professionals develop resilience, use CRM tools to track interactions, and continuously refine their outreach strategies based on feedback and data. Collaborating closely with marketing and sales teams also helps align messaging and improve lead quality, making the role both collaborative and dynamic.

Job description

Lead Generation Specialist
Remote - EMEA - UK

Quanterix is a global leader in ultra-sensitive biomarker detection, enabling breakthroughs in disease research, diagnostics, and drug development. Its proprietary Simoa® technology delivers industry-leading sensitivity, allowing researchers to detect and quantify biomarkers in blood and other fluids at concentrations far below traditional limits. • Experience supporting sales of scientific, laboratory, or capital equipment
EXPECTATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS amp; ABILITIES:
  • Fully remote position, requirement to have a home office area with dependable internet connection
WHY YOU’LL LIKE WORKING WITH US:

Our Technology:
From discovery to diagnostics, Quanterix’s ultrasensitive biomarker detection is fueling breakthroughs only made possible through its unparalleled sensitivity and flexibility. Simoa® technology has delivered the gold standard for earlier biomarker detection in blood, serum or plasma, with the ability to quantify proteins that are far lower than the Level of Quantification (LoQ). Our industry-leading precision instruments, digital immunoassay technology and CLIA-certified Accelerator laboratory have supported research that advances disease understanding and management in neurology, oncology, immunology, cardiology, and infectious disease.
Akoya Biosciences, a Quanterix company, is The Spatial Biology Company®—bringing tissue context to life through high-resolution, single-cell imaging. Akoya’s spatial phenotyping platforms help researchers visualize and measure how cells organize and interact within tissue to influence disease progression and therapeutic response. From discovery through clinical research, Akoya offers a full continuum of solutions, including PhenoCycler®, PhenoImager® Fusion and HT, and PhenoCode™ Panels. As part of Quanterix, Akoya complements a leading portfolio of ultra-sensitive biomarker detection technologies, together enabling a more complete view of biology and disease across both tissue and blood.
