Job description

  Otter Tail Power Company is seeking a Senior Transmission Project Developer to lead the development of electric transmission projects from concept through regulatory approval and transition to execution. This role provides strategic leadership for large, complex transmission initiatives that support system reliability, load growth, renewable integration, and longrange transmission planning objectives.

  Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field, along with 5–7 years of experience in transmission project development, utility planning, engineering, or related energy infrastructure roles, including demonstrated involvement with MISO transmission planning processes and regulatory frameworks. The position requires a strong working knowledge of transmission system planning, permitting, siting, and environmental considerations, as well as the ability to lead multistakeholder projects by coordinating crossfunctional teams across engineering, real estate, environmental, legal, finance, and operations. Responsibilities include managing state and federal regulatory approvals, developing project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, and risk mitigation strategies, engaging with regulators, landowners, partner utilities, and regional planning organizations, and representing Otter Tail Power in regional transmission planning forums. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, the ability to work independently and make sound strategic decisions within corporate guidelines, proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office applications, and a commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and company standards. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within the Otter Tail Power service territory are required.
