Job description

RiverCity Industries is seeking an experienced Powder Coat Facility Supervisor to oversee daily finishing operations, manage shop floor workflow, and ensure high-quality surface preparation and coating standards. This role is responsible for driving production efficiency, leading the powder coating team, maintaining equipment, and upholding safety and quality compliance across all custom metal fabrication projects.


Key Responsibilities


  • Production & Operations Management: Schedule, organize, and monitor daily powder coat workflow, pretreatment systems, and batch/line operations to meet production deadlines and customer specifications.
  • Team Leadership & Training: Directly supervise, mentor, and evaluate prep technicians, maskers, loaders, and powder coat applicators; establish clear daily targets and cross-train team members.
  • Quality Assurance & Process Control: Inspect prepped and finished parts for proper adhesion, film thickness, color consistency, and cure standards; resolve quality non-conformances immediately.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee routine maintenance and troubleshooting of powder spray guns, recovery systems, wash bays, drying ovens, and cure ovens to minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce OSHA standards, proper PPE usage, environmental regulations, and safe chemical management practices throughout the department.
  • Inventory & Resource Planning: Monitor inventory levels for powders, masking materials, racks, and pretreatment chemicals; coordinate replenishment with purchasing.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial powder coating or industrial liquid finishing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metal pretreatment (wash/phosphatizing), manual/automated electrostatic powder application, cure chemistry, and testing tools (mil thickness gauges, cross-hatch adhesion test).
  • Skills: Strong leadership, operational problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to read shop blueprints, cut lists, and job travelers.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, work in varying shop temperatures, and lift up to 50 lbs.
