We are seeking an experienced Submerged Arc Welder (SAW) to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background welding heavy plate and structural steel components while maintaining high quality and productivity standards.Position SummaryThe Submerged Arc Welder is responsible for producing high-quality welds on carbon steel components using automated and semi-automated submerged arc welding equipment. This position requires the ability to read fabrication drawings, set up welding equipment, maintain production schedules, and ensure all work meets company and customer quality requirements.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) on carbon steel plate and structural assemblies.Set up, adjust, and operate SAW welding equipment and manipulators.Weld groove, fillet, and multi-pass welds in accordance with WPS requirements.Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication documents.Verify fit-up and dimensions prior to welding.Perform preheat and interpass temperature checks when required.Conduct visual inspections of completed welds.Operate overhead cranes, positioners, turning rolls, and material handling equipment.Work closely with fitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel.Maintain production efficiency while meeting quality standards.Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of welding equipment.Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.Qualifications & RequirementsRequiredMinimum 3 years of Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) experience.Experience welding heavy plate, structural steel, pressure vessel components, or large fabricated assemblies.Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols.Knowledge of welding procedures, wire selection, flux handling, and welding parameters.Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging materials safely.Ability to pass a practical welding test.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fabrication shop environment.PreferredFCAW and GMAW welding experience.AWS welding certifications.Experience working to AWS D1.1 standards.Experience with automated welding systems, column-and-boom welders, or turning rolls.Forklift certification.Familiarity with quality control and NDT inspection requirements.Ideal CandidateStrong attention to detail and weld quality.Dependable with excellent attendance.Able to work independently with minimal supervision.Safety-focused mindset.Team player willing to support production goals and deadlines.How to ApplySubmit your resume detailing your SAW welding experience, certifications, and previous fabrication shop experience.Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule a weld test and interview.
