How much does a Cryptocurrency Trader make?

Cryptocurrency traders' salaries vary widely based on experience, trading volume, and performance, with many earning from $50,000 to over $200,000 annually. Successful traders often rely on technical analysis, risk management, and trading platforms to maximize profits. Compensation can also include bonuses or profit-sharing arrangements.

Can you make a living off crypto trading?

An OTC crypto trader can potentially make a living through trading, but success depends on market knowledge, risk management, and experience. Many traders supplement income with other skills or work in related roles such as analysis or brokerage. Consistent profitability is challenging due to market volatility and requires ongoing learning and discipline.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OTC Crypto Trader, and why are they important?

To thrive as an OTC Crypto Trader, you need a strong understanding of financial markets, cryptocurrency assets, and trading strategies, typically supported by a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with trading platforms, blockchain technology, and compliance systems—along with certifications like CFA or FINRA licenses—are often valuable. Exceptional analytical thinking, negotiation skills, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure are essential soft skills for this role. These competencies are crucial for executing large transactions efficiently, managing risk, and maintaining regulatory compliance in a fast-evolving market.

What are OTC crypto traders?

OTC crypto traders facilitate large cryptocurrency transactions directly between buyers and sellers, rather than through public exchanges. OTC stands for 'over-the-counter,' meaning these trades occur off exchange to maintain privacy, reduce market impact, and enable customized transactions. OTC crypto traders often work with institutional clients, high-net-worth individuals, or companies looking to buy or sell substantial amounts of cryptocurrency with minimal price slippage. They also help manage regulatory compliance and ensure secure settlement of trades.

Can you make $100 a day trading crypto?

An OTC crypto trader can potentially make $100 a day, but earnings depend on market conditions, trading skills, and risk management. Consistent daily profits are challenging due to crypto market volatility and the need for experience and strategy. Many traders experience fluctuations, and profits are not guaranteed daily.

What are the highest paying crypto jobs?

High-paying crypto jobs for OTC crypto traders typically include senior trading roles, quantitative analysts, and crypto fund managers, with salaries often exceeding six figures annually. Compensation may include base salary, performance bonuses, and profit-sharing, especially for those with strong market expertise, risk management skills, and advanced trading tools. Experience, reputation, and the ability to navigate volatile markets are key factors influencing earnings in this field.

How does an OTC Crypto Trader typically collaborate with institutional clients and internal stakeholders?

OTC Crypto Traders frequently work closely with institutional clients, such as hedge funds and high-net-worth individuals, to facilitate large-volume transactions while ensuring discretion and competitive pricing. Internally, they collaborate with compliance teams to adhere to regulatory requirements, risk management to monitor exposure, and technology teams to streamline trading systems. Effective communication and relationship management are crucial, as traders must balance client needs with internal policies and market conditions. Team structures often emphasize quick decision-making and cross-functional coordination to deliver seamless trading experiences.

Job description

Crypto.com is looking for a sales director who wants to be at the center of one of the most interesting intersections in markets right now — prediction markets, regulated derivatives, and digital assets. As the Sales Director, you'll own the growth of our Predictions and Exchange business in the US, building relationships with the firms and traders who are actively operating in or curious about event contracts, binary derivatives, and CFTC-regulated crypto products.

This isn't a role where you're handed a playbook and told to execute. You'll be carving out a client base in a market that's still taking shape, working closely with our product and legal teams to structure deals and bring new offerings to life. If you've been watching the prediction markets space develop and want to be the person driving adoption on the institutional side, this is that opportunity.

Job Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify, pitch, and onboard institutional and VIP clients — prop trading firms, hedge funds, asset managers, family offices, and FCM-registered entities looking for regulated crypto derivatives exposure.
  • Build and grow a client base for Crypto.com's prediction markets and event contract offerings, targeting firms with existing exposure to event-driven or binary derivatives strategies.
  • Drive adoption among clients active in CME Bitcoin/Ether futures and options, connecting the dots between TradFi regulated derivatives and on-exchange crypto products.
  • Identify and convert institutional opportunities in tokenized real-world assets, working with product teams to tailor solutions for asset managers and alternative investment funds.
  • Build and manage relationships with FCM counterparties, prime brokers, and clearing firms to expand our regulated derivatives footprint in the US.
  • Get deep on what clients actually need and position the full Crypto.com stack — OTC, API trading, custody, regulated derivatives — as an integrated solution.
  • Stay close to your book of business and bring market intelligence back to the product team to help shape what we build next.
  • Represent Crypto.com at key industry events including FIA Expo, CME forums, and digital asset conferences.
  • Own the entire sales cycle from first outreach to signed agreement.
  • Keep a close eye on CME developments, FCM partnerships, RWA entrants, and CFTC/NFA regulatory shifts to keep our value proposition sharp.
Job Requirements
  • Must have direct experience in CFTC-regulated markets (CME-listed products, FCM operations, or cleared derivatives) from a sell-side, exchange, or buy-side perspective
  • 6+ years in institutional sales or business development in a high-growth financial environment
  • Hands-on familiarity with prediction market structures (event contracts, binary derivatives) and/or tokenized RWA products; existing relationships in these verticals is a big plus
  • 3+ years in digital assets/Web3, specifically in outbound sales for an exchange, custodian, prime broker, or regulated crypto derivatives platform
  • An active book of business across prop trading firms, hedge funds, asset managers, FCMs, and clearing brokers in US regulated markets
  • Proven track record of building and monetizing institutional relationships with measurable revenue and volume results
  • Comfortable navigating the US regulatory landscape (CFTC, NFA, SEC digital asset frameworks)
  • Strong communicator — able to break down complex derivatives and digital asset concepts for C-suite audiences
  • Entrepreneurial by nature — you're energized by ambiguity and thrive when you're building something from scratch

$150,000 – $300,000 base + RSU equity + annual bonus
