Security Technology Systems Manager
General Description:
The Security Technology Systems Manager will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, and oversight of the organization's video management system (VMS), security screening equipment and security venue operations. This position will ensure reliable camera coverage, data security, regulatory compliance, and rapid incident response. Serves as the primary point of contact for VMS-related issues, venue 24-hour operations and vendor coordination.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Monitor and manage the organization's various systems, including VMS (video management system), hardware devices, security cameras, access control readers, cabling, security data storage, video management servers, UPS power backups, video displays, end-user workstations, and other devices
  • Ensure continuous camera coverage, proper placement, and uptime; respond promptly to incidents and alarms.
  • Maintain system documentation, configurations, access controls, retention policies, and audit logs.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and coordination with IT for network and server issues.
  • Monitor the performance and reliability of the security infrastructure, including performing real-time monitoring, providing reports analyzing system health and resolving system-critical issues
  • Manage user access, permissions, and authentication for VMS software; enforce privacy and data protection protocols.
  • Assist operators with daily system needs and support necessary configuration changes for operators to perform their duties
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, expansions, and vendor maintenance activities with minimal disruption.
  • Conduct regular system health checks, backups, firmware updates, and security risk assessments.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for incident reporting, evidence handling, and data retention.
  • Coordinate with Security, Facilities, and local authorities as needed, support investigations with video evidence.
  • Track key performance indicators (uptime, incident response time, retention compliance) and prepare management reports.
  • Investigate security breaches/unauthorized access and provide detailed reporting
  • Manage budgets and vendor relationships; evaluate and procure equipment, licenses, and services.
  • Provide training and mentorship to security staff on VMS operation, privacy, and best practices.
  • Provide end-user support during weekends, holidays and nights as necessary during games and events.
  • Participate in and ensure compliance with cybersecurity assessments

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in security management, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant work experience inVMS, physical security, or networked surveillance (typically 3-5+ years).
  • Familiarity with VMS platforms (e.g., Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Hanwha, or equivalent) and basic networking concepts (IP addressing, switches, bandwidth).
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and evidence handling procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT systems, including PC/Mac hardware components, operating systems, software, network switches, routers and firewalls
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and compliance) and prepare management reports.
  • Manage budgets and vendor relationships; evaluate and procure equipment, licenses, and services.
  • Provide training and mentorship to security staff on VMS operation, privacy, and best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare clear reports and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Certifications in security or IT fields are a plus (e.g., CCT, VMS technician, security systems, CompTIA Network+/Security+).

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
