Description:

The OSP (Outside Plant) Engineering Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, design, documentation, and coordination of telecommunications infrastructure projects. This includes assisting engineers and project managers in managing OSP construction and maintenance efforts, ensuring timely and accurate execution of engineering deliverables, and serving as a liaison between engineering, construction crews, vendors, and permitting agencies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and track all OSP engineering projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of OSP engineering documentation, including route maps, permit packages, and construction drawings.
  • Work with design and drafting teams to review and submit engineering designs for new fiber, copper, and conduit installations.
  • Coordinate permit applications with local municipalities and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Facilitate communication between engineering, construction teams, and third-party contractors or utility companies.
  • Support field survey efforts and ensure accurate data collection for engineering designs.
  • Maintain project databases, schedules, and trackers; generate regular status reports for stakeholders.
  • Review as-built drawings and ensure documentation is updated post-construction.
  • Monitor and report on project budgets, timelines, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards (e.g., NESC, NEC, RUS) and company procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in telecommunications or utility coordination, preferably with OSP experience.
  • Familiarity with OSP design, construction methods, and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet).
  • Experience with GIS/CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Vetro) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, utility maps, and schematics.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Permitting experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
